I'm not too sure how I feel about the loving-kindness exercise. I felt more like I was trying to win a beauty pageant than open my own heart and mind. I did feel a sense of appreciation for what I have been given in life by the end, but I didn't have that feeling of love for all like I did with the first loving-kindess exercise we did two weeks ago. Ehh not feeling this one, definitely liked the other one better!
The integral assessment on the other hand was much more interesting and eye opening for me. I think this is something we should all do continuously so we can see where we have been lacking in life and try to build up our experiences. I am all set in my biological aspect of life, I put a lot of my time and effort into this, but the other three areas I am not so set with. I am not too in touch with you psychospiritual self, and would like to work on ways to really find out who I am and what I want to get out of my life. My interpersonal aspect is pretty developed with my personal and family life but I would like to do more for my community. This also flows into my worldly aspect which could also use a lot of work, outside of the first part, work itself. I have always wanted to find ways to volunteer and do things on the side, and I think I will put more effort into finding ways I can do this. I have a tight schedule with school and work and its hard to make time for other things but I will utilize my break time to find ways to volunteer around my community and ways to give back to the world. I will also be done with school in March and that should free up some time!
Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I think doing these exercises will help you in with the psychospiritual area. I also feel I struggle in this area. I enjoyed this assessment because it really makes you look at yourself and what areas need work and how you can work on those areas. Thanks for sharing!

Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI felt better about this loving-kindness exercise than I did the first one. It sure is something how so many people respond differently to the same thing. I guess that is a good thing. We are all so different but yet alot alike.
The integral assessment is such an interesting and important piece to our life's puzzle. I believe most people wonder why they are here on earth and what their life's purpose is. I believe that is why so many people have anxiety, depression, and other mental issues because they are always wondering and wandering. They do not take any time to stop and reflect on their life, where they are, where they have been, where they are going, and what they truly want to do. If you like your work, is it work? It could be considered fun, or play, if you are enjoying it, right? If people took the time to really look deep inside and found their true calling, and they were able to do that for their life's work, would it be work? It sure would make life alot happier and our bodies and minds alot healthier. I am sure of that.
Yes, we need to spend some quality time in reflection and meditation, it will be time well spent.

Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI also experience trouble when trying to find time in my schedule to do things. Like you I go to school and work. I also get a ton of overtime which would be wonderful if it were not for the fact that I need to get some time for school work. I also enjoy coaching, and I have volunteered my services for years at local high schools. It is fun and I get to give back to the community. I hope you find time soon to do the things you want.
